we're launching a Volunteer Wellness Walk Leader Training Launched
Lots of people have told us how they think the idea of Wellness Walks is fantastic & that they’d like to get involved, maybe get a walk or even a group started in their community…..
So in 2023 we’re launching a Wellness Walks Volunteer Training Scheme…we’ll give you the skills (qualifications), confidence (mentoring and assisting opportunities) & support (insurance, equipment, infrastructure) to become a Wellness Walks Volunteer Leader.
And the best bit? – Wellness Walks will be funding the cost – for the successful applicants we’re going to supply all the training and pick up the forward costs – we want there to be Wellness Walks available for as many people as possible in as many places as possible.
What's involved & how do you apply?

We spent a lot of time in 2021 & 2022 developing this scheme – we spoke to a lot of potential volunteers about what they felt they wanted, what their concerns were & how they wanted us to help. We ran a trial program, learnt from it, tweaked it, made it even better….This scheme is the outcome of those discussions.
Our Volunteer Training Scheme will deliver the following courses, most of which are recognised qualifications that could also be used elsewhere, at no cost to participants:
Lowland Leader Training
First Aid for Mental Health
Safeguarding
Outdoor First Aid
Leave No Trace
Lowland Leader Assessment
We’ll also be giving our volunteers access to mentoring, shadowing and assisting opportunities, further cpd courses as well as insuring them, getting them deals on kit and taking care of that boring admin stuff. Exciting.
Who can apply?
We want our Wellness Walks volunteers to be as diverse as the people who benefit from our walks – so our training scheme is open to anyone who can meet the requirements of the qualifications we’re delivering (that bit is out of our control – but if you really think you’d be ace and you’ve concerns you might not qualify we’re happy to have a chat & possibly advocate for you).
You’ll need to be able to attend a total of nine course days – but you’ll get much more from the scheme if you’re also able to shadow existing leaders and take part in some of our open events.
The first scheme is scheduled for this Spring in North-West England – but we’ll be running this program several times through the year in different locations.
If you, or someone you know, think that this might be something you’d like to be involved in then feel free to drop us a line to register your interest & we’ll send you a lot more info!
