Walks in Cumbria

Not many people know that there are two National Parks that contain bits of Cumbria – the wonderful Lake District & the gentle pretty Westmorland Dales.

We run events both in the parks and also in beautiful quiet corners of the county – details can be found below.

Cumbria Walks

River and canal amble

10 Oct 24 - 09:30 AM
This walk takes in the village of Sedgwick once home to the Wakefield family, the old canal paths that connected the wool trade of Kendal and surrounding fells, the gunpowder produced down by the river to the great cities and mills of the north and beyond. A flat leisurely walk with lots of interest, a possibility of a coffee stop although a flask with a hot drink is always a good idea.

Kidsty Pike – Deer Stalking

10 Oct 24 - 09:30 AM
From late September to early November the Red deer gather and the makes fight to find a harem. Obviously we can never guarantee an encounter with wild animals - but we've found them every year this century... We'll take things slowly but there will be some steep ascent and we'll be off path for some of it. You'll want to bring poles and a camera - but hopefully, if the weather plays ball - we'll see some magnificent creatures!

Millom Weekly Walk & Talk

14 Oct 24 - 11:00 AM
The weekly Walk & Talk leaves from Millom Safe Space (aka Tin Chapel / Pensioners Hall) around 11am every week. These weekly walks are a gentle, easy & safe way to meet other folks, have a natter, take your mind off life’s worries for a while. We’ll usually have a wander out to the coast and maybe round the sea wall or through the reserve, sometimes we only go as far as the benches by the pool – we want as many people as possible to have the opportunity to attend so we’re putting on walks you can all attend.

Sizergh and Brigsteer

17 Oct 24 - 09:30 AM
Todays walk starts in grounds of Sizergh castle with an opportunity to stop to use the toilet and café should we wish to. We will be walking through farm land, open fields and beautiful woodland before we make our way up onto Scouts Scar taking in the breath taking views (hopefully) of the south Lakeland fells, Lyth Valley, Cartmel Fell and Crosthwaite. We head back along the top of the limestone escarpment and the welcome site of the café at Sizergh.
