Neurodivergent Outdoor Leadership

Neurodivergent Outdoor Leadership – working with our brains and each other to thrive

There is lots of content and information about working with neurodivergent young people but less so about working with adults and even less when the leader is neurodivergent!

This session will involve some information sharing and myth-busting and then move on to some facilitated discussions exploring how outdoor leaders and organisations can practically ensure neurodivergent participants and staff can thrive.

This is an interactive session.

There will be breakout groups, BUT there is no pressure to have sound/video on and you are equally welcome to contribute in whatever way works for you or to simply listen in.

Beth Wallis is an experienced, highly qualified outdoor practitioner on the water and land, with a lean towards paddlesports.

Wellness Walks CPD sessions pay our facilitator a respectful wage for their expertise – and surplus goes towards funding the charitable activities of Wellness Walks – typically a full workshop allows us to offer a disadvantaged individual a free place on a Hill or Mountain Skills Course.
Please pay what you can.

While we take every precaution to ensure your safety on our events (physically, psychologically and emotionally), all outdoor activities involve an inherent and unavoidable risk of an accident occurring that could lead to personal injury. All of our Walk Leaders are qualified in First Aid and carry emergency equipment to deal with emergencies. Walk Leaders are also trained to dynamically alter the route or plan for the day based on numerous potential factors - any decision to do so is fully authorised and expected by Wellness Walks. All participants should take an active role in minimising risks - so if you have a concern please speak up, if you feel unwell or unable to continue tell the leader.
