Ladies Only: Exploring the Grassington Moor Lead mines.

This is a circular walk of about 7 miles on Grassington Moor where we will step back in time and discover and explore the remains of the intensive lead mines from the 16th century onwards. We will come across old mine workings, a powder house and the impressive cupola smelt mill chimney built in 1792. We can explore some of the flues, so please bring a torch if you want a look. All this and hopefully amazing views across Wharfedale.

What did you think of the walk?

Excellent

This was a brilliant walk with so much history of the lead mining industry. The company of the ladies was great as usual. I feel we can talk about anything as nobody is there to judge. We also went to the Old School Rooms for coffee & cake after which didn’t disappoint.

How did the walk help you?

I had had quite a stressful week but as soon as we got walking I began to feel the stress lifting, so felt so much better when I got home.

Would you come on a walk again?

Yes! I would love to go again.
