Ladies Only: Stainforth Force and Giggleswick Scar
This 6 1/2 mile ladies only walk, started with an incline up and along the Dales Way to Stainforth Force where we can enjoy the waterfalls. We then follow the river Ribble round to Stackhouse where we will ascend up to the Giggleswick Scar area. We will pass Schoolboy’s tower where the students from the school traditionally add a stone as they leave the school. We walk along the scar and pass caves until we descend into Feizor for welcome refreshments.
What did you think of the walk?
The walk was challenging but manageable and covered some lovely trails. The views were amazing! The group of ladies were so nice and the leader of the walk, Ruth, was so caring, regularly checking that everyone was ok. It was my first walk with an organised group and I have never properly hiked before. If they are all as well planned and interesting as this I will be a regular. Many thanks.
How did the walk help you?
As it was my first hike I really appreciated the open space, seeing the hills, water etc. I didn’t expect to feel so free and happy as I had worried slightly that I would be a burden, not have enough stamina to finish etc. I was made to feel so welcome and had a lovely chat with most members of the walk. Having a competent friendly leader really helped me settle into the walk. My apprehension very quickly disappeared five minutes into it. I loved it.
