Glen Rosa: Into the Heart of Arran
This 9.5km/5.5 mile circular walk follows Glenrosa Water into the dramatic granite mountains at the centre of Arran — through woodland, along well-made glen paths, and past some of the river’s most beautiful pools. The highlight is the Blue Pool: small, vivid, and tucked beneath a waterfall with the imposing cone of Cìr Mhòr rising behind it. It’s become something of a social media landmark, but arriving on foot makes it feel like a discovery all the same. The route is varied underfoot, with some boggy stretches, so good waterproof footwear is worth having. There will be time to stop, breathe, and take in the surroundings. Space to talk if you need it, and space to be quiet if you don’t. Come as you are and know that wherever you are in life, Vicky will meet you there.
What did you think of the walk?
The views and the path were incredible, really led our group to appreciate Arran as more than just an island but as its own natural piece of art. There were so many little snippets of new scenery that it was hard not to fall in love with something.
How did the walk help you?
It helped me gain confidence in my abilities in the outdoors and pay attention to nature. It really let me feel like I was part of the natural world around me
Would you come on a walk again?
