Kind words – Matt (Sept 2025)

The Great Glen Canoe Expedition

A five-day classic canoe journey through the highland fault of the Great Glen. Self-sufficient and paddling tandem canoes, we’ll wild camp along the way carrying all we need for the week in our canoes. With two highly qualified guides this trip is suitable for most abilities although you will enjoy yourself more if you have done a little canoeing and/or camping before. You don’t need to be an expert! We’ve plenty of time to learn along the way with our expert coaches alongside you. All specialist equipment will be provided, (except sleeping bags), including transport back to the start at the end of the journey. You’ll need to provide your own food but we’ll share our Camp Cookbook and top tips to give you some ideas. This is a superb journey through stunning scenery and an excellent way to stretch yourself while helping us raise funds for Wellness Walks.

What did you think of the walk?

Excellent

A five day canoe trip was brilliant and challenging in a really good way. Being an outdoors for an extended time allowed me to reengage with the environment and feel connected to a group of people in a way that I haven’t done in ages.

The expedition leaders created a mini community that was safe, supportive, inclusive and inspiring.

How did the walk help you?

Being with a small group for five days allowed me to be honest and vulnerable about what was going on for me. It helped me identify some areas that I need to work on for personal growth as part of my recovery. Being on a longer trip helped me simplify my daily rhythms and reconnect to the world around me. I’ve also come away with some new canoe paddle skills.

Would you come on a walk again?

Yes! I would love to go again.
