The Marchlyn Circuit - A short hike over the western Glyderau
Although we’ll be attempting a few peaks of the western glyderau, don’t let that put you off considering this delightful short hike around the Marchlyn reserviour, high up in Eryri. It’s quite a compact route considering, and we’ll be starting at over 1000ft above sea level (which feels like cheating!) This walk should appeal to those who have O.K. fitness and want to spread their wings into the mountains. Are you needing a fitness boost? Do you want to get your hiking mojo back? Fancy a physical challenge to get up there and leave our worries under a rock at the summit? It’ll be a safe and well guided walk, we can take our time, find our own pace, with no rush and see where we get to! With a bit of luck we’ll have tremendous views all over Anglesey, Pen Llyn, Yr Wyddfa and the Carneddau!

It’s on mountain paths with steep sections up and down, but with good footwear, and by taking our time it’ll be safe and accommodating to many who want to give it a go. I’ve put down a full day, but that’s just to give us plenty of time, we’ll probably be down much quicker. Please don’t hesitate to email rob.ww002@wellnesswalks.org.uk to ask any questions about the walk.
mixed weather
We’re expecting mixed weather on this walk – so make sure you bring waterproofs AND an extra warm layer!
Walk Leader - Rob S.
Rob is a qualified Mountain Leader & he’s also qualified in First Aid for Mental Health & Outdoor First Aid – so you know he’ll keep you safe and make your Wellness Walk a safe and supportive space.
Rob has hiked, climbed, skied and kayaked all over the U.K, Europe and beyond, but some of his favourite walks are along the paths of the North Wales pilgrim’s way close to his home in Snowdonia. An ancient route that winds its way round the hills and coast of North Wales.  Sauntering along these centuries old paths is a great way to relax and unwind, either on a sunny day when the wild flowers are out, or sheltering from the rain under an old oak. Bliss!Â
Rob‘s absolute favourite walk is the Alta Via Due – a high level walk, ten days across the plateaus of the Italian alps.  An amazing adventure in some stunning alpine scenery. Â
Rob’s top tip is to try and find a spot to dip your feet. Whether a cold burbling stream, or a gentle pool, find a few minutes to stop and chill, get out of your boots and connect with nature.Â

Informed Consent - we want you to know what risk is involved
While we take every precaution to ensure your safety on our walks (physically, psychologically and emotionally), all outdoor activities involve an inherent and unavoidable risk of an accident occurring that could lead to personal injury. All of our Walk Leaders are qualified in First Aid and carry emergency equipment to deal with emergencies. Walk Leaders are also trained to dynamically alter the route or plan for the day based on numerous potential factors - any decision to do so is fully authorised and expected by Wellness Walks. All participants should take an active role in minimising risks - so if you have a concern please speak up, if you feel unwell or unable to continue tell the leader.
Mountain Walks
These walks will be in remote and potentially difficult terrain. There will be ascent and descent and steep rocky ground might be encountered. The consequences of accidents in such an area are more severe. Temperatures on the UK's mountain tops can be significantly lower than in the valleys and winds will also feel much stronger. Participants are required to read the walk description and make an honest self-appraisal of their ability to complete the day.
Please note the suggested kit list and take into consideration these factors.
Sorry, This walk is experiencing technical difficulties! Please check back later and if the problem persists contact our team.
