Hebden Bridge circular

This walk has a variety of challenges both in its steepness and the terrain but rewards us with history and views. The first part of the route is firm underfoot but has a steep section. We will take the incline at a slow pace, so do not worry. I can assure you that this slope rewards us at the top with the beautiful village of Heptonstall steeped in history and spectacular views. The rest of the walk Is through fields and trails and can be slippy in places. We will then return back into Hebden Bridge to take in the sights of the canal and have refreshments before heading back to the station.

What to expect - The Terrain & Activities

Difficulty:

Moderate

Terrain Type:

Lowland

Paths Type:

Off-path

Ascent Type:

Undulating

We will walk a circular route from Hebden Bridge train station, through the park and up the steep incline to Heptonstall. Here we will have a look around the 2 churches and hear about the history before heading out into the countryside to take in the beautiful views of the Moorland nd over towards Stoodley Pike whilst steadily decending back around into Hebden Bridge where we will end our hike at a local coffee shop. This is approximately 6.5 miles and takes in range of terrain so walking poles are advisable.

mixed weather

We’re expecting mixed weather on this walk – so make sure you bring waterproofs AND an extra warm layer!

Walk Leader - Angela

Angela is a qualified Lowland Leader & she’s also qualified in First Aid for Mental Health & Outdoor First Aid – so you know she’ll keep you safe and make your Wellness Walk a safe and supportive space.

Angela is Yorkshire born & bred but moved away to start a career & family. Now older, fitter & wiser she’s moved back to God’s Own Country and is enjoying the beautiful landscape. Angela took up hiking in 2020 and discovered a passion for it – she loves the freedom and calmness that nature provides.

Angela’s favourite place is Malham Cove – it’s such a magical place. The Yorkshire Dales offer such diversity and adventure that she’s sure she’ll never get bored of the stunning scenery – and she’s keen to introduce people to, and share with them, such a special place.
