Clapham - Austwick Loop
A chance to explore the beautiful Yorkshire Dales through the serene villages of Clapham and Austwick. Starting in Clapham, we will make a steady ascent up into the hills along a well trodden gravel path. We’ll take this at our own pace with as many stops as we need. There’s no rush! We will then continue on flat terrain on a lovely path (see photo where my dog is showing you just how lovely it is!). Then we’ll descend gradually into Austwick – where we’ll have a stop at a bakey/cafe for locally produced cakes! From here, it’s a pleasant walk across fields back to Clapham. Along the way there are quite a few stiles to cross, so please bear this in mind. This is a 6km walk and should take us approximately 2 hours (give or take a cake stop and lots of breaks to take in the views!)

Walk Leader - Lauren H.
Lauren is a qualified Lowland Leader & she’s also qualified in First Aid for Mental Health & Outdoor First Aid – so you know she’ll keep you safe and make your Wellness Walk a safe and supportive space.
Lauren can often be found in the Yorkshire Dales and out and about in Cumbria & Lancashire – so she’s given us two favourite local walks – walking in the glorious Garsdale Valley AND a Wellness Walks classic – the Fairy Steps near Silverdale.
Lauren’s favourite walk anywhere -is a spectacular one – the Grand Balcon-Sud in Chamonix with it’s stunning views of the top of Europe.
Lauren’s top tip really says it all….get out into the outdoors even when you don’t feel like it, you always feel better once you’re there!

Informed Consent - we want you to know what risk is involved
While we take every precaution to ensure your safety on our walks (physically, psychologically and emotionally), all outdoor activities involve an inherent and unavoidable risk of an accident occurring that could lead to personal injury. All of our Walk Leaders are qualified in First Aid and carry emergency equipment to deal with emergencies. Walk Leaders are also trained to dynamically alter the route or plan for the day based on numerous potential factors - any decision to do so is fully authorised and expected by Wellness Walks. All participants should take an active role in minimising risks - so if you have a concern please speak up, if you feel unwell or unable to continue tell the leader.
Lowland Walks
These walks will follow paths, trails and lanes that are clearly visible on both the ground and the map (with the exception of very minor alterations). The risk on these walks is low - but traffic, waterways and other hazards may still be encountered.
Participants are required to read the walk description and kit list and may not be allowed to take part on the walk if they do not have suitable clothing or footwear.
Sorry, This walk is experiencing technical difficulties! Please check back later and if the problem persists contact our team.
