S Lakes & Eden Wellness Walks Volunteer Training Scheme Launches

we're now recruiting for a Wellness Walks Volunteer Training Scheme in S. Lakes & Eden

This scheme is open to anyone who lives in the the South Lakes or Eden areas of Cumbria & who’d like to be trained & supported to deliver Wellness Walks in their community.

And the best bit? – places on this scheme are fully funded – there’s no cost to you – for the successful applicants we’re going to supply all the training and pick up the forward costs – we want there to be Wellness Walks available for as many people as possible in West Cumbria.

What's involved & how do you apply?

You’ll need to be able to:

(1) Attend 4 training events (2-days each) that will take place South Lakes

(2) You must live in the the specific areas, this is a pre-requisite for this scheme.

Our Volunteer Training Scheme will deliver the following courses, most of which are recognised qualifications that could also be used elsewhere,  at no cost to participants:

Lowland Leader Training

First Aid for Mental Health

Safeguarding

Outdoor First Aid

Lowland Leader Assessment

We’ll also be giving our volunteers access to mentoring, shadowing and assisting opportunities, further cpd courses as well as insuring them, getting them deals on kit and taking care of that boring admin stuff. Exciting.

Who can apply?

We want our Wellness Walks volunteers to be as diverse as the people who benefit from our walks – so our training scheme is open to anyone who can meet the requirements of the qualifications we’re delivering (that bit is out of our control – but if you really think you’d be ace and you’ve concerns you might not qualify we’re happy to have a chat & possibly advocate for you).

You’ll need to be able to attend a total of 8 course days – but you’ll get much more from the scheme if you’re also able to shadow existing leaders and take part in some of our open events.

You’ll need to be able to prove your experience by logging 10 lowland walks prior to attending the first training and a minimum of another 10 walks prior to the assessment.

If you, or someone you know, think that this might be something you’d like to be involved in then feel free to drop us a line to register your interest & we’ll send you a lot more info!
