This is a very different day… We’re launching Wellness on Water – so the day is specifically for people who’d like to try paddleboarding or a canoe trip, or maybe an open water swim. You’ll need to have clothing that can get wet & a change of clothes (facilities available) – and you’ll need to be able to swim. But. We’ll have plenty of instructors there to teach you & keep you safe.

Walk Leader - Kelvyn James

Kelvyn James is a working International Mountain Leader who guides clients all over the world – here in the UK he regularly works on Mountain Training courses and runs navigation & leadership sessions. He’s an Outdoor First Aid, First Aid for Mental Health & Safeguarding Instructor as well as a qualified psychologist & counsellor.

Kelvyn is also the founder of Mental Health North West & Wellness Walks and is passionate about the benefits of giving people the opportunity to get out into nature. He has lived experience of mental health issues and specifically cites time spent in the outdoors and, crucially, time spent with other people as fundamental to his own journey to thriving.

Walk Leader - beth

Beth is a qualified Mountain Leader & also has Mental Health & Outdoor First Aid qualifications – you’ll be in safe hands. Beth is also one of our ‘qualified to take you on & in the water’ leaders – so lots of adventuring opportunities!

Beth has worked in the outdoors for over a decade her infectious enthusiasm for making days out special is an inspiration to be around. Beth also leads our Women Only events. Beth is based in the Scottish Highlands but can often be found down in the Lake District. She says the middle of Derwentwater is her favourite place to recharge her batteries.

This is a Big Day Out event and there will be a minibus leaving the Pensioners hall in Millom at 10:15am, but you can also meet us at the venue

Facilities

There is a cafe, toilets and changing facilities available at the venue

Mixed Weather

We’re expecting mixed weather on this walk – so make sure you bring waterproofs AND an extra warm layer!
