A wander on Whitbarrow
This walk will also repeat on 14th november - see booking link to choose a date
This is one of my favourite walks, spectacular views, woodland, limestone escarpment and on the doorstep. The walk starts at the bottom of the old quarry, walking up the limestone slab into the wooded slopes which lead to what could arguably the best view ever. Although the beginning of the walk is a steady uphill pull, we soon find ourselves stopping for a well earned rest or 2 and arriving on the top for a brew, we then have a pleasant undulating wander before descending through more beautiful wooded areas back to the cars.

Rough tracks and a quarry bottom which can be muddy and slippery so boots or sturdy footwear is advised, walking poles or a stick is a good idea. Bring something to sit on, a plastic bag is fine to stop your getting your seat wet.

Walk Leader - Linda C.
Linda is a qualified Lowland Leader & also has Mental Health & Outdoor First Aid qualifications – so you’ll be in safe hands.Â
Linda is based in the South Lakes and she tells us her favourite place to walk locally is Kentmere as it has so much variety and there is something for everyone. Her favourite walk ever is the Coledale Horseshoe, an amazing challenging route, great company on the day and they were blessed with the most incredible weather.
Linda’s least favourite walk was the Yorkshire 3 Peaks in awful weather!
Brought up in the Lakes with parents who loved to walk it was almost a given that she would also grow up to love the outdoors. Linda started walking regularly around 10 years ago and is happy just pootling along with her dog or taking on a challenge.
Linda’s top tip is – remember to look at the weather forecast, but don’t let it put you off going out somewhere.

Informed Consent - we want you to know what risk is involved
While we take every precaution to ensure your safety on our walks (physically, psychologically and emotionally), all outdoor activities involve an inherent and unavoidable risk of an accident occurring that could lead to personal injury. All of our Walk Leaders are qualified in First Aid and carry emergency equipment to deal with emergencies. Walk Leaders are also trained to dynamically alter the route or plan for the day based on numerous potential factors - any decision to do so is fully authorised and expected by Wellness Walks. All participants should take an active role in minimising risks - so if you have a concern please speak up, if you feel unwell or unable to continue tell the leader.
Lowland Walks
These walks will follow paths, trails and lanes that are clearly visible on both the ground and the map (with the exception of very moor alterations). The risk on these walks  is low - but traffic, waterways and other hazards may still be encountered.
Participants are required to read the walk description and kit list and may not be allowed to take part on the walk if they do not have suitable clothing or footwear.
